12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Logan is a lean, solid RHP/SS that will graduate in 2014. Defensive grade are slightly above average as he shows smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the routine plays. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls more and play through balls more and increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Nippert shows a squared setup with rhythm from the left side. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to keep his hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 9 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Logan has abilities with time and room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
