Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Middletown (Hartford), CT Logan is a tall, lanky RHP/1B graduating in 2019. On the mound, Logan shows good, repeatable mechanics with four pitches in his arsenal (FB, CU, CH and KN), showing command and movement with all four. Logan shows good balance gathering over the rubber followed by an on-time separation and a free arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. He extends through the zone square to the catcher, landing with proper stride length and rotating to his target. Logan shows he has more in the tank and could improve velocity with a long toss program. In the field, he shows efficient feet covering ground and has backhand feel. Logan gets into a square fielding position, presenting his hands early and making clean exchanges. He shows a long arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot, making accurate throws on a line. Logan could gain more velocity by following his throws to his target. At the plate, Logan shows a tall set up and a good load. He keeps his balance center and shows a firm front half. By staying stacked throughout his swing and incorporating a square stride, Logan could find more barrel accuracy and pop on his swings. With another year of development, Logan can play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
