01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Woolums is a solid RHH catcher who can make things happen with the bat. Offensively, he stands in well with a solid base and smooth rhythm to load. Hands get back into a strong load/launch position waiting for a pitch he likes. Barrel delivery is quick as the ball explodes off of his bat - driving it to the deep parts of the park. He will be a run producer. Behind the dish, he sits in well with delusion tracking pitches into a soft mitt. He moves well laterally and centers pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Throws to 2B are on the bag as he replaces his feet well and gets the ball in and out of his glove efficiently. This 2022 grad has upside with the tools that will provide success in this only his junior season.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Logan continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (94 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Logan continues to shine at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 2.15 range with accuracy on his throws. Offensively, he continues to shine through an open setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel explosion (81 mph exit velocity) with the ball screaming off of his barrel.

10/13/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Lexington, KY Logan is an athletic and tall 2022 2-way prospect. Behind the dish, Logan has a quiet primary stance and works behind the ball when receiving. When blocking, Logan leads with his glove, he creates a good angle over the ball, and tries to control the ball with his chest. When throwing, Logan has a clean exchange, he loses ground with his footwork, and makes accurate throws. When hitting, Logan starts in a crouched and open stance. He tries to rotate his back hip into the ball and gets good extension after contact. He swings with intent and shows potential power to the pull side. On the bump, Logan gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He stays inline and works north to south in his delivery. His FB tops out at 78 MPH, he has late depth on the breaking ball, and throws his slider down in the zone. Logan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/14/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Louisville, KY Logan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player at the next level. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Behind the plate, he shows fluid footwork and takes good angles when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher, receiving with a firm glove. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through the 2B bag. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.01. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a squared setup. He is smooth getting into his load and maintains center balance. He has strength (84 mph exit velocity) in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11-5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger and shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Logan is a solid, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 3B and HR. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.38 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get his body down sooner. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Logan has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
