11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Loren continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.33. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/08/2018 - College PREP - Wichita, KS Loren is a versatile 1B/LHP prospect who has a long, projectable build. Offensively, Loren has a tall, closed stance with his weight on his heels. He maintains a quiet head with a long, open stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. He shows a great effort and battles through his ABs. Loren has a long swing path and is developing bat speed. In the field, Loren plays with effective pre-pitch actions and good rhythm. He fields the ball in a high position with deep hands. Loren has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing consistently online throws across the diamond. On the mound, Loren features 3 pitches with good potential. He has on-time mechanics throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Loren stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. His fastball has sink movement and he is developing command. Overall, Loren is a hardworking prospect who has potential to advance his game with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
