12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Loren continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will continue to increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry (80 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

09/15/2019 - College PREP - Kansas City, KS Loren continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.08. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth, clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work to get behind fly balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Feet are aggressive as he attacks and plays through ground balls well. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open setup. He tracks the ball well and shows a strong recognition of the strike zone. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing only to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 64-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
