12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Lorenzo is a 2028 3B/RHP out of Nolensville, TN who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At 3B he starts with a good prep step and works to center the baseball. Works from right to left and has a low funnel. Made accurate throws to first base from multiple arm slots with an arm velocity up to 72mph. On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. Does a good job of controlling the run game and backs up bases. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 62mph with plus command, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup with arm side run. In 2 innings of work, he punched out 1 batter and threw 71% of pitches for strikes. At the plate he hits from a tall and even stance with high hands. He activates his hands and gets a good lower half turn. In live game action he reached base 4 times with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by pitch. Lorenzo plays hard and hustles while on the field. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

10/08/2023 - National Showcase - Nashville, TN Lorenzo is a 2028 grad out of Nolensville, TN. He did show as a catcher for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with a soft mitt. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner and improve lateral movements. Pop times showed in the 2.82 range. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 64 mph. Fastball showed a range of 63-64 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with early break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run and sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Lorenzo is a RHP/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows range of 60-62 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
