Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/12/2009 - Team One South 2009 Louie was 76-78 on the mound with his fastball showing on a downhill plane, creating tough angles on hitters. Changeup was his best off speed pitch showing a solid feel for with breaking ball displaying an 11/5 shape with gradual break. He changed speeds well and attacked hitters throwing strikes with all his pitches. He will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, swing path is level and he was 1 for 5 with a 2B at the event.

01/16/2009 - Under Armour Preseason All America - 2009 Louie continues to show steady movement in his baseball abilities. He continues to show as a two way player but does project best in the middle of the infield. Arm strength is strong and will only continue to get better through a strict long toss program. On the mound, he has improved the most. Off pitches pitches were the best to date and he mixed his pitches well, keeping hitters off balance. At the plate, he continues to show above average ability with a solid feel for the barrel. Defensively, he gets it done with aggressive feet and a sure glove action. He has the makings to be a solid player at the collegiate level, possibly beyond.

12/27/2008 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic 2008 Louie shows as a two way player but only projects as an IF. Foot speed is slightly average and does need to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness to play in the middle at the next level; more suited for 3B at present time. Feet are active and moves well laterally displaying range. He shows plus, plus arm strength with life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. Glove action is soft and sure in making all the plays. Defensive abilities are well above average and have the arm to make all the throws. At the plate, Armanini has a solid bat path and utilizes his lower well, generating power in his swing. He is aggressive in his approach and utilizes all fields. He was 4 for 12 with a 2B and 3B. Louie will be a solid collegiate player.

11/16/2008 - National Tryout - Shreveport, LA Louie is a young SS with a tall, thin frame that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. Foot speed is slightly average and does need to improve to stay in the middle of the infield at the next level, possibly more suited for 3B. Arm strength is above average as indicated by his top velocity of 85 mph at the arm strength station. His arm shows life and carries across the diamond. Defensive abilities are above average showing loose, athletic actions. At the plate, Amanini has above average abilities with solid average. He shows a level path, taking hands directly to the baseball, generating plus bat speed. He displays a solid feel for the barrel. With 2 years to further develop, Louie has the makings to be a special type player, currently more suited for 3B at the collegiate level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
