01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Luca is a 2026 catcher out of North Haven, CT who continued to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities at the Preseason All American Rookie event. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean/transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.25. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, hitting abilities are now well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He utilizes his lower half well and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. With 4 years to further develop, Luca has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

07/05/2021 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Luca is a 2026 talented C/3B out of North Haven, CT. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved, now displaying solid abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer/exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.40 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. He shows a solid setup, sticks balls in the zone and utilizes his body through the blocking process. The future is bright for this 2026 grad.

03/20/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - East Hampton (Hartford), CT Luca is a C/3B prospect in the 2025 class. At the plate, he does a good job of starting in his legs and staying in them throughout the swing. Starts in a square set-up as well as striding square. Does a good job getting his barrel on-plane early and extending through the baseball. Hits line drives to all fields. At third base, he shows advanced fielding actions. Has effective feet to get him to the baseball. Clean exchange and short arm action leads to accurate throws across the diamond. Behind the plate, he shows good athleticism. Uses the ground to help generate power on his throw downs. Tracks the ball deep into his glove when receiving. Does a good job getting his thumb underneath. Luca is a talented young prospect with plenty of bright years ahead of him.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
