02/21/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Luca is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At SS, he works to center the baseball with active footwork and plays with good effort/energy. Fundamentally sound baseball player who wants to be coached. Works into an athletic fielding position with good glove actions and hands out front. He made accurate throws to first base from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 69mph. On the mound, he has a loose arm stroke with ability to pound the strike zone. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 64-65mph with some movement, a breaking ball with 11/5 shape that he throws for strikes, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed that has some sinking action. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance. A simple setup to start and takes an aggressive swing. Keeps bat flat in the zone for a long time and made consistent contact. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 69mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Avon (Cleveland), OH Luca is a young (2027 grad) R/R SS who works hard on his game. Defensively, he has active prep footwork and athletic actions as he comes to get the GB. Hands are presented out in front as he gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw. Continuing to work through the GB while strengthening his arm (long toss) will aid in his defensive development. As a hitter, Luca shows a tall/open stance with centered balance. He tracks pitches into the zone and off of his barrel as he takes an aggressive hack, squaring the ball up and driving it with some pop. Creating more extension through contact while engaging and using his full lower 1/2 will aid in increasing power at the plate. Luca has a solid skill-set with a ton of upside (2027 grad) as he still has a ton of time to develop and physically mature (get stronger).

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
