06/14/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 14-18) Luca is a SS that will graduate in 2020. In the field Luca is in an athletic ready position and shows active feet with +angles to the ball. He fields the ball low with his hands out in front and makes clean exchanges with + DP feeds. Working on his back hand and fielding the ball softer should help Luca advance his abilities at SS. At the plate Luca sets up in a square stance with a small and simple load. His stride is square and controlled. His core rotates well, and he works to drive the ball by being aggressive showing a good approach at the plate. Continuing to get stronger with weightlifting and a long toss program will help his abilities. Luca showed that he is a great team player out in Omaha and will get better as he grows into his athleticism.

02/10/2019 - College PREP - Douglasville (Atlanta), GA Luca is a lean, athletic SS who will graduate in 2022. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Luca has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
