08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Lucas is a lean, athletic LHP/1B that will graduate in 2017. At 1B, he displays proper foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. He makes the routine plays with defensive grade improving as he attacks balls more while presenting hands out front and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 4 for 7. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his change with arm side run / sink. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will improve as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Gregory has abilities with time and room to improve.
