01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Lucas continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he continues to shine. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range (6.90 60 time) as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry (80 mph velocity) on his throws.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Lucas is an athletic (5'9"/145) OF who can make things happen when he steps onto the diamond. He is a gamer who leaves it all on the field. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with good routes/angles and covers a ton of ground with speed. He works through the ball well and gains ground towards his target. Throws are accurate and on a line. As a hitter, this lefty proved to be a tough out. He stands in athletically with centered balance and fluid rhythm to load. He tracks the ball out of the pitchers hand and sees it deep into the hitting zone. Hands are quick as he fires the barrel on a direct path and squares the ball up with some pop. He gets on base consistently, going an impressive 6 for 8 with 3 singles, 2 doubles, a HR and 2 BB's. Lucas is a very talented prospect who possesses the tools that will translate into the next level. He is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
