12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Lucas is a lean SS who has a bright future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.19. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he takes good first steps in attacking the baseball. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5 with 5 BB as he shows a patient approach and strong recognition of the strike zone. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Lucas has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
