Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

12/20/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Daytona Beach, FL Luciano is a lean, athletic 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2026. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick as he works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and he hits into a firm front side. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 47-49 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run but throws too hard resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 6 years to further develop, Luciano has potential with time and room to progress his game.

12/14/2019 - Florida Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 12-14) Luciano is an athletic and hard working 2026 RHP prospect that made the most improvement out of any pitcher over the weekend. On the bump, Luciano gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He rides his back leg toward the plate and has a clean delivery. He has a good front side and throws his fastball for strikes. At the plate, Luciano starts in a squared and athletic stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, he gets to balance with his lower half, and rotates his backside through contact. He needs to continue to build strength which will improve bat speed and his ability to drive the ball to all fields. Luciano was a great player to work with and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/18/2019 - Interactive Video Program - St. Augustine, FL Luciano is a young, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Luciano has playable hands and feet, and he makes the routine plays on balls hit his way. He plays with good effort, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and direction to his target. On the mound, Luciano has good balance over the rubber and he keeps his eyes on target. Offensively, Luciano has a tall stance, he stays inside the ball, and he finds the barrel. He gets his hands extended well and hits line drives. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

1. Pre-pitch actions
2. Fielding position
3. Release
Pitching
1. AA
2. Landing

Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
