07/26/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Luis showed good progress at Pirate City. Behind the plate he displayed good knowledge, blocking/receiving skills and a good exchange. Areas for improvement are staying lower as he shoots out on throws and long tossing for arm strength. In the outfield Luis is athletic, sure handed and gets good reads on the ball but he needs to improve his footwork/agility/lateral quickness. As a hitter he has a lot of power and is consistent but his leg kick stride is too drastic/late, arm bars on load and balance drifts at times. Luis is a good kid who genuinely loves playing game which will serve him well in the future.

01/27/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Delray Beach, FL Luis is an athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays OF. Behind the plate, Luis has fluid footwork, soft hands, and he sits in athletically. He has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and carry from a loose arm action. In the OF, Luis showed sure hands, playable feet, and he takes good routes to the ball. He has a short / loose arm action and delivers the ball with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Luis has a square set-up, good balance, and a square stride. He swings in good rhythm, and uses his lower 1/2 well. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
