09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Luis continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential is outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 81 mph. Fastball shows arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and depth. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/10/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Davie, FL Luis is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At SS, Luis is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and funnels the ball into his body. He creates good angles to the ball and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Luis starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He creates backside drive with his lower half, he has a good bat path to the ball, and hits the ball to all fields. On the bump, Luis has a strong front side, he rides his back leg toward the plate, and has a loose arm action. He throws his fastball for strikes, he sinks his changeup, and has good depth on his curveball. Luis will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Luis continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 67-69 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Delivery is repeatable and simple as he works in line to his target. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Delray Beach, FL Luis is a thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Luis has active feet, he fields in an athletic position, and he takes good angles to the ball. He fields smoothly, has athletic actions, and throws with accuracy from a quick/clean exchange. On the mound, Luis stands over the rubber well, he has a loose arm action, and he finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Luis has an open stance, a square stride, and good balance. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
