01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Luis is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, Luis shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid to load and leads well with his lower half. He extends through the ball with fast bat speed, driving the ball to his pull side with authority. On the mound, Luis gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Luis operates with a four pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 84mph with arm side run and sinking action. Curveball sits from 67-69mph with 11-5 break. Slider sits from 70-73mph with 10-4 action. Changeup sits from 70-73mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Luis is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute as a two-way player at the next level.

11/07/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Luis is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At SS, shows fluid/active feet, with ability to play fast, and good body control at the baseball. He creates good fielding angles and fields from an athletic/square fielding position with a low funnel. Has a short/quick arm and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a ability to get rid of ball. Made accurate/on-line throws, with good carry to target, and an arm velocity up to 85mph. On the mound, he has athletic actions and a fast arm. Has a repeatable delivery and works with good tempo. He throws a FB that sits 78-80mph with good arm side run, a slider with 10/4 shape with tight spin, and a splitter with good sink that he throws with FB arm speed. Showed ability to pitch and has a high ceiling. At the plate, he starts with an athletic and open stance. A quiet approach, with center balance at contact, and is a patient hitter. He gets on-plane early, with quick hands, and has an explosive barrel through the hitting zone. He hit hard line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 91mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect having opportunities to play at the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
