08/23/2023 - National Showcase - Trenton, NJ Luis is a talented 2025 catcher who recently impressed scouts with his actions behind the plate and in the batters box. Defensively, He has an athletic, square and low receiving stance. Keeps his eyes behind the baseball and moves well laterally. Catch to release is quick and shows a fast ar. (2.14 pop & 82 velo). Feeds are on the bag with carry. Working to gain ground with his right foot and stay in his hips will easily put him in sub 2.0 range. At the plate, he has an athletic stance and is on-time with the pitch. Loads his body properly and stays inside his feet for exceptional balance. Stays inside the baseball with quick hands (91 exit velo) and gains extension. Shows he can use the whole field with a solid line drive approach. Overall, Luis has a bright future in the game and is a must follow in the 2025 class.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Luis continues to show as a prospect with improvements his baseball abilities at the Pre-Season All American. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.06 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Luis has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

12/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manalapan, NJ Luis showed very well overall during his last workout with The Factory. He is a young, talented prospect with a high ceiling. Behind the plate, Luis has active footwork, a presentable glove, and he tracks the ball. He is a confident receiver, covers the 5 hole when blocking, and throws with accuracy and consistency to his target. Pop times to 2nd base lowered to 2.2 seconds. Blocking sooner and quickening his release will help improve catching abilities. At 3B, Luis has active feet, good pre-pitch actions, and he works through to his target. He picks out the right hops, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency across the diamond. Added urgency and a quicker release will help abilities at 3B get better. At the plate is where Luis shines. He is a strong hitter with a square stance, good balance, and solid bat ship. He has fast bat speed, a direct barrel, and he hits with power gap to gap.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Luis is a hard working, 2-way player who showed nice improvements in his game during his time in Pirate City. He increased arm velocity to 64 MPH, exit velocity to 69 MPH, and he showed a spike in power grades. Behind the plate, Luis sits in well, he tracks to his glove, and he keeps the ball in front when blocking. He replaces his footwork, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy to 2nd base. On the mound, Luis has good balance, a FB that touches 61 MPH, and he lands with a proper length stride toward home plate. Offensively, Luis shows good athleticism, a closed stance, and he has a simple load. He has good balance, he centers the ball well, and he hits line drives; rotating his core properly.

At 3B, Luis shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance with center balance. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
