08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Luis is an athletic 2B/RHP that will graduate in 2014. His foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.13 60 time. His feet are active as he moves well laterally and presents soft / clean hands well out front. He needs to attack balls more, play through, and increase his foot speed to improve defensive grades. Throws are accurate but will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. At the plate, Salazar shows a balanced stance with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through the ball at contact, displaying a direct path. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep his hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, his fastball shows a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape, flashing sharp break. He slows his arm speed on his changeup, tipping off the pitch to hitters. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be. With 2 years to further develop, Luis has abilities with time and room to improve.
