11/03/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Luke is a powerful backstop with a tremendous future on the diamond. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times are in the 1.98 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (86 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped (84 mph exit velocity) through the zone as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. A talented prospect, he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

10/07/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Georgetown, TX This strong, athletic catcher continues to show a tremendous future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he utilizes his quick feet well in working in line to his target through a quick, easy transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 1.90 range with accuracy and zip (89 mph velocity) to his target. He shows an athletic setup and is soft/quiet through the receiving process. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving/blocking skills sow as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine, now displaying near pro level power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and he has strength in his swing (92 exit velocity) with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Luke is a hard working individual who has progressed nicely in his game. He is an athletic RHH catch and throw guy who has a solid all-around skill-set. Defensively, he sits in well with athletic/quiet actions. He sticks pitches in the zone, framing well. Quick footwork allows him to move laterally around pitches in the dirt. Throws are on the 2B bag with pop times in the low 1.9's. As a hitter, Luke shows an athletic stance with smooth rhythm to load. He squares the ball up consistently and creates good extension through contact. Only a 2020 grad, the future is very bright for this young & talented prospect.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 6.93. At the plate, hitting/power potential are now outstanding. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (84 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. Pop times remain in the 2.00 range. A talented prospect - he will make things happen both behind the dish as well as with the bat.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Luke continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean/transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.01 range. Throws display accuracy and on line carry through to his target, displaying outstanding arm strength. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking it in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process, as he is a wall behind the dish. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level.

10/05/2016 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Luke continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws display accuracy with pop times improving as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving/blocking skills show as playable tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Working to get his stride foot down sooner and letting the ball travel will aid in improving hitting abilities. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a hard worker.

05/22/2016 - National Tryout Plus - San Antonio, TX Luke is a very talented (2020 grad) R/R catcher. Behind the dish, he sits in well with athletic actions and flexion. He moves well laterally and works to center pitches off of his chest, keeping the ball in front. Exchange is quick/clean as he gains ground toward his target at 2B - pop times of 2.15. As a hitter - Luke shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack and barrels the ball up and pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched and drives it on a line. Luke is a solid prospect who has a very bright future ahead of him in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
