Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

10/16/2013 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Luke only showed in the OF at the event and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.43 runner. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in tracking to down balls through proper routes / angles as he works to get behind. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to reads balls better off the bat and be more aggressive, taking chances. Throws are accuracy as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but needs by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Beveridge shows a crouched / squared setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through an uphill swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to improve barrel accuracy and work to level out swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable.

07/15/2013 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Luke is a solid, athletic OF/LHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.45 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through well with momentum to his target through an aggressive approach. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with loose spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a plus feel for with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. With 2 years to further develop, Luke has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
