07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities are at a pro level as he displays smooth fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (85 mph velocity) on his throws. He shows big play potential. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 5 for 11 with a 2B. Mental makeup may be his best tool as he plays the game the right way. Luke has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball tools.

04/15/2018 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Luke is an athletic LHH MIF and shows a tremendous fu-ture on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed is above average as in-dicated by his 60 time of 7.15. Defensively, he takes a quick first step and has plus lateral range. He creates an-gles around the GB with fluid actions. DP turns are quick with zip on his throws. Throws display accuracy / zip (84 mph velocity) into his target. Defensive abilities are out-standing as he shows big play potential. At the plate, hands are quick as he squares the ball up consistently driv-ing it on a line. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Luke has a ton of upside and pos-sesses the skill-set that will play at a very high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
