07/17/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (MS) Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.51 and will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Luke is a coachable C prospect who continues to develop on the field. Behind the dish, Luke sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to the 2B bag. He is efficient moving to block and keeps dirt balls in front of him. Long tossing can help Luke build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance with comfortable hands. He works through a level swing and rotates his core well, producing solid line drives. Luke can create more consistent contact by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Luke is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further build upon his skills.

03/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Luke is a 2027 C/3B. Young player, with medium frame lean build, has room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary catcher higher set behind the plate during drills. Presents glove well and receives the ball out front. Good spine angle blocking and tries to create blocking angles. Shows accuracy with some carry down to second base. Secondary third baseman shows some feel for the position. Works through the ball and hands are out front. Accurate on throws across the diamond with developing arm strength. Arm strength will improve with natural growth and development as well as a long toss program. Left-handed hitter begins with an even and athletic stance. Loads weight onto back side with a small stride forward. Stays short and balanced to the ball and looks to spray the ball to all fields. This 2-way player has plenty of time to develop his game and body.

02/27/2021 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching/Catching & Offensive Skills Combined Weekend Luke is a C prospect who worked hard during the Mid-Atlantic Skills Weekend. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid to load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a direct swing and produces consistent contact to all fields. Continuing to add strength can help Luke generate more pop off the barrel. With six more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
