Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/OFPosition Projection

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Luke is an athletic/projectable 1B/OF who shines in a variety of ways on the diamond. At 1B, Luke showed off a long, accurate and online arm. A 74mph raw arm velo would help give the ball some carry as well. He pairs this with an athletic ready position, efficient feet, and soft hands. These tools will continue to develop and have him ready to compete at the next level. Not only did he impress at 1B, but Luke also showed his pop off with an impressive 84 mph exit velocity. His square stride, centered balance, and smooth rhythm would help him make consistent hard contact. This is where he shined the most, posting well above average ratings in hit and power. Overall, Luke is solid at 1B with some tools that will continue to develop. We are excited to see where this game takes him in the future.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/11/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Antonio, TX Luke is a young (2024 grad) L/R 2-way player (1B/OF) who has a strong/projectable frame. With the bat, this lefty has an athletic setup with a quiet head, tracking pitches into the zone. He has fluid rhythm, loose hands and whips the barrel to the zone. He connects and shows some pull-side pop. Working to create more extension through contact will help to increase pop off of the barrel. At 1B, he shows active prep and works around the GB right to left. He tracks the ball into a soft mitt and gathers well. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball and has a clean transfer to throw. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility/speed will help him to increase lateral range and will improve overall defensive abilities in the INF & OF. This 2024 grad has skills with upside and still time to progress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
