Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

02/26/2023 - National Showcase - Poplarville, MS Luke is a 2027 C/RHP prospect. Behind the dish, he is an impressive receiver. He has active feet and good direction and tracks the ball well. He works well from an athletic position with a good spine angle. When blocking, he does a good job tucking his chin and gaining ground. His exchange is clean and he works hard to make accurate throws. At the plate, he works from a squared setup with an active load and is balanced over the center of his body. He displays impressive bat speed and is a consistent line-drive hitter. He features good strength and gets good extension on his swings. Love how Luke swings with intent to drive the ball to all fields. Works hard to stay back and keep good timing. On the mound, Luke worked exclusively from the stretch. His pitches have deceptive action and he hides the ball well. His lower half is active and he gets good drive to the plate. Works hard to keep his head level to his target. His CB is his best offering with a 10-4 gradual break and good depth. Having a bigger MPH difference between his FB and CH could make a big difference, as he gets more feel for the pitch that should come. Excited to see Luke at future events.

11/08/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Jackson, MS Luke is a 2B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 2B, Luke shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Long tossing can help Luke build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He drives through well with his lower half and sprays the ball to all fields. Luke can barrel up more baseballs by taking a more level swing path. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He extends through his release and stays inline toward the plate, finishing square to his target. Luke's fastball tops out at 53mph. Loosening his arm action can help Luke improve his pitch command and velocity. With seven more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/12/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Jackson, MS Luke raised arm velocity to 53 MPH and showed offensive improvements during his last workout with The Factory. At 2B, Luke has playable hands and feet, and he looks the ball into his glove. He creates a good fielding angle, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and momentum across the diamond. On the mound, Luke has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and he lands with a square position toward home. He has a proper landing and finishes completely. At the plate, this RHH has a square stance, good balance, and a compact swing. He has a direct barrel, a good bat angle, and he can spray to all fields.

08/09/2019 - Baseball Factory Advanced Analytics & Pro Training Experience (Ages 12-14) Luke is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Analytics Training Weekend. Luke gave great effort during testing and got his 60 time as low as 9.34 seconds. Continuing to refine his run form can help Luke improve athletically. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and gets his hands activated well. He extends through the ball and hits against a strong front side. Luke can improve as a hitter by working on his contact points. In the field, Luke makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Luke improve defensively. With seven more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
