08/11/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Luke is a 2-way player who plays OF and LHP. Defensively, Luke has active feet, he fields aggressively, and moves with agility to the ball. He has soft hands, catches fly balls at the highest point, and he throws with a long arm action to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance and he keeps his eyes on target. He works well to his balance point, works in good tempo, and has a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Luke has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He makes hard/consistent contact and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Arm strength
2. Finish throws
3. Raise arm slot
Pitching
1. Separation
2. Finish
3. Release
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Swing path

11/15/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Luke is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect. In the OF, Luke is aggressive on ground balls and creates angles to the ball. He tries to work behind fly balls. He needs to continue to work on his first step quickness and anticipating balls off the bat. At the plate, Luke starts in a closed stance, gets his front foot down on time, and has good rhythm to the ball. He starts in a wide base and shows the ability to hit the ball to the pull side. Luke needs to attack the inside part of the ball, create backside rotation with his lower half, and have a middle approach. He needs to stay aggressive on the fastball and use the whole field. On the bump, Luke gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and finds a balance point. He consistently throws strikes with his fastball, but developing a secondary pitch such as a changeup will elevate his game. Luke was eager to learn and willing to make adjustments. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/12/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Luke is a young 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Luke stands over the rubber well balanced, he keep his eyes on target, and separates on time. He has a controlled landing toward home and is around the zone with his pitches. In the OF, Luke presents his glove, fields squarely, and has an accurate arm to his cut off man. At the plate, Luke stands in athletically, he tracks the ball well, and can spray to all fields. He will need to work on the following in order for skills to get better.

Pitching
1. Release
2. Finish
3. Long toss
Outfield
1. Quicken feet
2. Arm strength
3. Exchange
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Bat speed
3. Rhythm

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
