Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Luke worked out on the mound and at 3B during his time in Pirate City. On the mound, Luke showed a tall/lean frame, good balance, and a clean arm circle. He keeps his eyes on target, competes in the zone, and finishes in an athletic position. In the INF, Luke has a relaxed approach, efficient footwork, and he moves with good agility to the baseball. He works from the ground up, works through the backhand, and throws with a loose arm to his target. At the plate, Luke has a narrow stance, a still head, and a level swing. He makes contact and has a good eye for the zone.

08/22/2021 - All-In Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Luke is a tall, lanky RHP who graduate in 2022. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 68-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Luke has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
