01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Luke has an athletic and lean 6'3/185 lbs frame that projects well at the next level. Behind the plate, he shows quiet actions to receive and flashed pop times in the 1.9 - 2.0 range - with a raw velocity of 90 mph. He worked well to block and has a high ceiling. At the plate, he showed loose hands and an aggressive approach, attacking balls in the zone. He was smooth with his move to hit and has good natural leverage with the frame. In all - we are excited to continue tracking Luke as he goes through his Junior and Senior seasons.

07/19/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Luke is a lean, strong built C/OF prospect who plays the game athletically and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Luke has an athletic, square stance with a centered balance and firm front side. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and short, square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Luke shows fast bat speed and gets good extension producing hard contact. He has a line drive approach the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. Behind the plate, Luke has an effective setup and plays the position athletically. He presents an effectively, low target and tracks the baseball well. Luke has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws have good carry down to 2B and he is building consistency. Overall, Luke is a hardworking prospect who loves the game and has a talented skill set giving him high upside.

02/26/2017 - College PREP - Waco, TX Luke is an athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.21. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.10 range with life, accuracy and on line carry to his throws. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the dish. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. With 2 years to further develop, Luke has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
