09/26/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Union City, CA Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding with excellent power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) as he squares the ball up consistently driving it on a line. At SS, he creates angles around the GB with fluid actions. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. He throws from multiple arm angles with accuracy on his throws but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - West) Luke is a 2B prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. At the plate, this LHH sets up with comfortable hands and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a small load and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid contact. Driving his lower half more can help Luke produce more pop off the barrel. In the field, Luke makes the routine plays and throws with a loose arm, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Luke can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove to the ball sooner. Overall, Luke is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now solid through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a sac fly. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Fastball shows good arms side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/14/2019 - Nor Cal Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Luke is a coachable 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. Getting into his load sooner can help Luke improve as a hitter. Overall, Luke is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/10/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Fremont (San Jose), CA Luke is a young, wirery 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Luke has good range, efficient footwork, and he fields in a square position. He has presentable hands, a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. On the mound, Luke has a balanced delivery, a loose arm circle, and he keeps his eyes on target. He separates on time, lands with good direction, and gets solid pivot off his back foot. Offensively, Luke has a crouched set-up, he loads well, and stands in well balanced. He has good bat speed, swings on plane, and finishes completely through the ball. Luke can continue to improve skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
