05/24/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Mooresville (Charlotte), NC Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has bright future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 6.86. In the MIF, feet are light, quick as he moves well laterally displaying plus range. Hands / feet work well together and he shows big play potential. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and zip (83 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed (through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered with power showing best to the pull side.

04/28/2019 - National Tryout - Charlottesville, VA Luke continues to show as a prospect on the diamond as he continues to improve his baseball tools. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line zip (84 mph velocity) across the diamond.

11/04/2018 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball shows a range of 71-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his /changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Charlottesville, VA Luke is a young, thin, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Luke has quick/fluid feet, he fields low and athletically, and his hands are soft. He attacks the ball aggressively, has a quick/clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a short arm action. On the mound, Luke has a loose arm action, a controlled landing toward home, and he competes in the zone with all of his pitches. Offensively, Luke has an athletic set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has fast bat speed, he gets good extension, and he uses his lower body well. Luke can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
