12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Luke is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. In the field, Luke takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a soft stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and accelerates through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Luke shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 67-69mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Luke is a talented prospect who should find success going into his sophomore season.

09/01/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - San Francisco, CA Luke is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. At SS, Luke is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and funnels the ball into his body. He has good foot work to the ball, he plays through the ball, and throws from multiple arm angles. He has good hands and makes accurate throws. At the plate, Luke starts in a quiet and athletic stance. He has good rhythm in his load and hits off a firm front side. He has some hip rotation, he stays on plane with the ball, and hits the ball to all fields. On the bump, Luke gathers over the rubber, he rotates toward his target, and rides his back hip toward the plate. He has some movement on his fastball, slight tilt on his curveball, and shows command of the changeup. Luke will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
