Official Scouting Report

03/11/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball showed range of 67-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard close to fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/15/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Luke is a young, 2-way player as a LHP/1B. On the mound, this lefty has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot. FB ranges from 60-66 mph as he has smooth separation and works in-line toward the dish. Breaking ball has 2/8 shape with gradual break. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed and has slight run complimenting his other pitches well. At 1B, Luke is aggressive and comes to get the ball. He shows good lateral range as he fields the ball cleanly. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced approach with rhythm. He lets the ball travel into the zone and waits for his pitch. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Tempo
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Lower 1/2 drive
Defense
1. Pick out hops
2. Footwork to backhand
Offense
1. Shorten swing path
2. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
