01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Luke continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process and is a wall behind the dish. At the plate, he shows an open, athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows great barrel accuracy with gap to gap pop.

10/23/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Conroe (Houston), TX Luke continues to show a promising future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. He displays proper footwork to throw, gaining ground and finishing to his target through a quick release. Pop times showed in the 2.15 range with accuracy and carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking tools show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he stays inside the baseball, displaying gap to gap pop.

05/01/2016 - National Tryout Plus - College Station, TX Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.14. He improved his pop times behind the dish as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.13. Hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He shows off his athletic abilities through his receiving / blocking skills through an athletic setup. At 1B, feet are aggressive as he attacks balls with his feet, displaying clean hands. He moves well side to side and tracks ball well. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Glove action is solid and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. At the plate, hitting abilities are well above average with outstanding power potential through a soft / athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path with late explosion. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He loads well, utilizes his lower half well, and shows a solid feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. With 3 years to further develop, Luke has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Luke is a hardworking, coachable player that showed well at the Preseason All American Rookie event. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now showing well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic / balanced setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields through an aggressive approach. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 6. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.20 range with accuracy / carry on his throws, displaying well above average arm strength. He plays with a ton of energy and shows the ability to handle a pitching staff with his receiving / blocking skills. With 3 years to further develop, Luke has the makings of a special type player at the next level as he continues to progress.

06/15/2015 - National Tryout - Tomball (Houston), TX Luke is a well rounded player who can make things happen. With the bat, this RH swinger shows a solid base with rhythm to load. Swing is quick as he engages his lower 1/2 well, resulting in hard hit balls. Behind the dish, he has athletic actions with a soft mitt. Exchange is clean as he works in-line toward 2B, pop times of 2.21. At 1B, Luke has active footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He has good lateral range and can pick it. Only a 2019 grad - Nagy has skills with still a ton of time to develop.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Luke is a C/1B with a great frame for both positions, and has the ability to be a great player defensively and as a hitter shows the ability to change the game. At the plate he shows great barrel accuracy and good bat speed, allowing him to make hard contact consistently to all fields. Luke displays plus power at the plate for his age, by utilizing his entire body during the swing. Behind the plate Luke has the ability to control the game with his high baseball IQ, and knowledge of the game and different situations. He shows the ability to block well and smoother the baseball, giving his pitchers the confidence to throw any pitch in any count. He also has the ability to control the running game with a strong arm behind the plate, and a quick clean transition to throw. To improve behind the dish Luke needs to continue to work on his setup and lateral movement.

07/21/2014 - Interactive Video Program - Austin, TX Luke is a R/R (C/1B) who can swing it. With the bat, this righty shows a relaxed approach with good balance. He drives the barrel to and through the zone with pop. He utilizes his lower 1/2 well and creates pop off of the barrel. The ball jumps off of his bat as he uses the whole field. Behind the dish, he sits in well and presents a low target. He tracks the ball into his mitt and sticks it. He has a clean transfer to throw and make accurate throws to 2B. At 1B, Luke hustles into position and moves well laterally. He fields the ball cleanly and makes the plays. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
