12/27/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 2 Patterson showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Atlanta, GA. His feet are quick / athletic as he attacks ground balls, displaying clean hands. He needs to play through balls more while presenting his hands more out front to improve his defensive grade. At the plate, Luke shows a balanced / solid setup with rhythm. He works on time with his hands working directly to the baseball. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, his fastball shows a range of 79-81 mph with a loopy breaking ball that shows potential when he stays on top and gets out front with the pitch. He competes on the mound and has plus mental makeup as he is very coachable and works hard.
