Official Scouting Report

  • RHPPosition Projection

07/06/2015 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Paull only showed on the mound at the event and continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. Delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work long and well to the plate through an over the top arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Luke is a physical and strong RHP/1B that graduates in 2016. On the mound Luke really competed and filled up the zone throughout his time at camp. He showed a three pitch that kept hitters off balance. His fastball had solid downhill action and topped out at 83.. He located it consistently on both sides of the plate. His curveball had good 11/5 break with tight spin. His change-up was also a very solid pitch as it had some arm side run with sinking action. His mechanics were good which allowed him to get good extension. His quick tempo and ability to hold runners also served him well. At 1st base he really did a solid job of attacking groundballs. He displayed good footwork around that bag and showed great ability to center the ball up as he fielded. Offensively, Luke had an athletic setup and stance at the plate. He quick hands and used his lower half well. He also displayed good bat speed that allowed him to make consistent contact. Luke has a very bright future ahead of him and has to possibility of being a two-way player at the next level. As he continues to grow and develop he should catch the eyes of coaches moving forward.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
