10/06/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Grapevine (DFW), TX Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.28 runner. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/05/2019 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he has a good overall delivery, a good arm action, and he rotates his hips through to his target. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows feel for pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. He has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

05/12/2019 - College PREP - Justin (DFW), TX Luke is a 2022 LHP/OF. On the mound Luke separates on time and creates good direction to the target. The lead leg lands controlled, and he shows some feel for his secondary pitches. Luke shows a 4 seam FB in the zone, a CB with 2-8 break, and a CH with FB arm speed and some arm side tail. Luke can see improvements with long toss and a strength program. At the plate, Luke is an aggressive hitter. He also works to make consistent contact to the ball. Overall, Luke is young and still growing into his body. We look forward to seeing his improvements on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
