07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Luke is a talented outfield prospect who has an athletic build and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Luke has an athletic, crouched stance with a firm front side and the weight in the back of his setup. He takes a load with a square stride. Luke shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path consistently landing the barrel to the baseball. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the outfield, Luke plays with fluid footwork and agile action taking a quick first step and covering good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball athletically. Luke does a nice job playing with momentum through the baseball. He has a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistently online with good strength. Overall, Luke plays the game athletically and has the right approach on both sides of the ball giving high upside to take his game to the next level.

06/11/2017 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Luke is a lanky OF with broad shoulders and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.75. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally, covering ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential is well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and explosive (81 mph exit velocity), working through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball and has strength in his swing, displaying gap-to-gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well. With 2 years to further develop, Luke has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
