11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Luke continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 2 for 6. At SS, he displays proper footwork as he works to square balls up. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 57-59 mph with sinking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing sinking action but throws too hard to fastball velocity. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

05/14/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Poughkeepsie, NY Luke is a small, athletic SS/RHP. Defensively at SS, feet are active as he attacks the GB. He fields the ball in an athletic position with soft hands and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this righty delivers with good tempo and keeps his eyes locked in. FB has hard downward action and CH stays down in the zone deceiving hitters. With the bat, Luke shows a balanced setup with smooth rhythm to load. He explodes his lower 1/2 through and drives pitches on a line to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Prep step
2. Smooth DP exchange
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Pitching
1. Throw more strikes
2. More lower 1/2
3. Stronger frontside
Offense
1. Work on timing
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
