01/27/2019 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Luke showed solid overall skills during his last workout with The Factory. At SS, Luke takes good angles to the ball through efficient footwork. He presents his glove well, fields in a low position, and his exchange is quick and clean with a consistent arm across the diamond. Playing more through the ball and continuing to add arm strength will help defense get even better. Offensively, Luke is a strong hitter with an open stance and good balance. He has fast bat speed, good feel for the barrel of the bat, and he gets his lower body through. Work on his load and swing path will lead to a spike in hitting numbers.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Luke is a strong SS prospect who showed well at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Luke shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into position on time and fields with sure hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with life through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a soft stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He gets good extension through the ball with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. With three more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Luke is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Luke shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate with good carry through his target. Luke can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a simple load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He takes a short swing with explosive bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap. With three more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/14/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Lexington, KY Luke continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and continues to show a promising future. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate he has improved his hitting / power potential through a square setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and aggressive as he attacks balls in the zone. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. In the MIF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with zip across the diamond. With 4 years to further develop, Luke has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

07/18/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Luke is an infielder who continues to develop as he graduates in 2022. Throughout the event, he showed the intangibles of being a coachable kid who worked very hard. At the plate, Luke starts from an athletic stance and loads forward to create separation. He does a good job of implementing his lower half into his swing and fires his hands quickly through the zone. In his at-bats, he showed great plate discipline and was able to grind out AB's making him a tough out. In the infield, he displayed good footwork on the backhand play. He fielded balls out in front and showed a clean exchange making accurate throws. Cutting down his steps before throwing will help Luke get rid of the ball quicker. With solid work ethic and good baseball intangibles, along with four more years to develop, Luke will be an exciting player to follow.

01/08/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Dayton, OH Luke is a SS/OF who will graduate in 2022. At SS, he gets into a square position as he fields Gb's. He gains ground as he makes accurate throws to his target. In the OF, he hustles hard as he tracks down hard-hit fly balls. He works to stay behind on fly balls and makes consistent, on line throws to his target. With the bat, Luke displays a solid setup. He loads in his hands as he drives his barrel through the zone on time and extends through contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield

2. Quicker exchange
3. Lateral quickness
Outfield
1. Low approach
2. More range
3. Clean exchange

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
