07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Price only showed at the plate at the event but continues to show plus abilities. He shows an athletic setup and aggressive approach. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path, flashing extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he learns to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Luke has the makings of a special type player at the next level.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Luke showed well again at the event. He uses his strong, muscular 6'2, 195 lbs frame well in the outfield. Luke tracks down balls to the gap with his superb foot speed, running a 6.82 60 time. Luke gathers himself well and gets his feet under him in making strong throws to his target. Some areas Luke can work to improve include shortening his stride when throwing, not stabbing at balls, and shortening the amount of steps he makes when throwing the ball in. At the dish, Luke shows discipline and patience as he lets the ball travel deep into the strike zone. He has a direct bat path to the ball and extends on contact, displaying above average pop. To further improve offensive grades, Luke should work at being more relaxed at the plate by loosening up his grip. Further improvements would include loading with his hands and striding towards the pitcher rather than at home plate, which results in him cutting off his swing at times. Overall, Luke is a great ball player and will be an asset to coaches at the next level.

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Luke is a very skilled 2-way player (OF/RHP) who showed very well in Pirate City. Defensively, his quick/active footwork allow him to track down balls hit into the gaps. He gets good jumps and is aggressive. Luke fields the ball cleanly and makes strong throws into his target. As a hitter, he remains patient and waits for his pitch (drew 3 BB's). He shows good rhythm and delivers the barrel to and through the zone, hitting it on a line. Thanks to his speed and ability to consistently put the ball in play, he will be a top of the line-up type of guy. On the mound, Price has a repeatable delivery and maintains good tempo. FB shows arm-side run and slight downward movement, cracking the mitt at 81 mph. His arm works well and with a little development can be a prospect on the bump. All-in-all, Luke proved that he is willing to work hard to get where he wants to be. He is a player to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
