03/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Luke is a LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Luke shows a solid delivery as he gathers over the rubber and works with a loose, free arm action. He extends through on his release and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Luke has a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph. Changeup sits from 45-48mph. In the field, Luke shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his glove side. He gets into a low, athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and solid pop to his pull side. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Hand separation
2. Square stride to the plate
3. Changeup
Fielding
1. Backhand
2. Quicker exchange
3. Long toss
Hitting
1. Balance
2. Use entire field

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
