Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1BPosition Projection

09/24/2021 - MS All-Region Tournament Luke continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and he presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a closed setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

06/23/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Frederick, MD Luke is a strong 1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 1B, Luke shows active footwork and covers ground well. He makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Luke improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and great pull side power. Luke can improve as a hitter by consistently using his entire body in his swing. Overall, Luke is a talented prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

03/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Luke is a LHP/1B prospect who will graduate in 2025. On the mound, Luke shows a solid delivery as he gathers over the rubber and works with a loose, free arm action. He extends through on his release and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Luke has a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 58mph. Changeup sits from 45-48mph. In the field, Luke shows efficient footwork and flashes good range to his glove side. He gets into a low, athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and solid pop to his pull side. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Hand separation
2. Square stride to the plate
3. Changeup
Fielding
1. Backhand
2. Quicker exchange
3. Long toss
Hitting

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
