10/03/2018 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic
Luke is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic. In the field, Luke gets into an atheltic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and gets good carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits from a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to loud contact and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works fast and stays inline towards the plate. Luke shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78mph with sinking action. Breaking sits from 59-60mph. Overall, Luke is a talented prospect who will be one to follow in this, his sophomore season.
07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One
Luke is a thick, strong OF/RHP who shows a bright future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Offensively, he has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage - resulting in a barrel explosion (86 mph exit velocity) with the ball coming off well of his barrel. At the event, he was 4 for 8. Defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with zip (82 mph velocity) across the diamond. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. With 3 years to further develop, Luke is a prospect on the field and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
