Official Scouting Report

09/21/2014 - College PREP - Troy (Detroit), MI Luke is a tall, athletic LHP (6'0"/160). On the mound he uses his loose, wiry actions to extend through to the plate creating a deceptive delivery. His rhythm and tempo allow him to excel on the mound. Later rotation and release will give his pitching improvement. At the plate, he has a square set up with active hands. He is aggressive and attacks FB's. Gaining better rhythm and a feel for the barrel will improve his swing. Luke has the tools to be successful.

06/10/2013 - College PREP - Troy, MI Luke is a thin, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Luke has a long / free arm action, a controlled balance point, and he works in good rhythm. He has level shoulders, good direction toward home, and he finishes in a complete position. Continuing to add arm strength will only help mound effectiveness improve. In the OF, Luke has sure hands, active footwork, and he fields in a low position. He plays through, his exchange is quick, and he throws with consistency to his target. An earlier glove and stronger arm will help OF improve. Offensively, Luke has an open set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He is short to the ball and makes consistent contact. Hitting can improve with more load, better rhythm, and more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
