06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas This athletic (6'1"/190) RHP pounds the zone with an effective 3-pitch mix. Arm works quick and clean as he drives downhill, in-line toward the plate. FB cracks the mitt at 89 mph as he throws it for strikes consistently. Curveball has 10/4 shape with good action while changeup shows some sink. He mixes his pitches well and does a good job of keeping hitters off balance. Luke is a skilled RHP who will toe the rubber and compete at a high level.

11/05/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Luke is an exciting young prospect with an extremely high ceiling as a RHP. He is athletic on the mound with a coordinated delivery - collecting at the top with a slight inward turn, and accelerating through release into a good finish. He has big arm strength, topping out at 92 mph (and showing 98 mph raw veto into a net) with good plane to his fastball. He pounds the strike zone and goes at hitters with a refreshing aggressive approach. After getting ahead with fastballs Luke rolled out a power slider that lived in the low 80s and showed late 2-plane break that missed bats. Luke also showed his athleticism with good feet and hands at 3B and a feel for the position. He employs a lift-and-separate approach at the plate that leads to some leverage power to the pull side. Overall, this an arm to watch very closely over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
