01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Luke is a RHP/OF prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Luke shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 70-72mph with 11-5 break. In the field, Luke shows fluid footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making on-line throws through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to great pull side power. Overall, Luke is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

07/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Luke is a talented RHP who continues to progress. He has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He maintains good tempo/pace, gets balanced and drives downhill toward the plate. Arm works easy/fluid/free as he repeats well. FB cracks the mitt at 84 mph with good arm side run. Changeup has good sink and will get GB outs. Curveball shows to be his best pitch with 11/5 shape and sharp break. As a hitter, he shows a tall/open stance with balance. He takes an aggressive hack and connects, driving the ball on a line. Luke is a RHP who will throws strikes and compete on the mound.

07/16/2019 - College PREP - Sauget (St. Louis), IL Luke is a lean, athletic C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.28. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.16 range with accuracy and carry on his throws as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone through an athletic setup. Athletic abilities are shown off through the blocking process as he utilizes his body well and deadens balls out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with sharp break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Luke has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
