12/06/2020 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Luke is an athletic RHP/SS prospect who continues to make steady improvements on the diamond. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes square to the plate. Luke shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph with late arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Luke shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half, producing line drives to all fields. With four more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Luke is a 2-way player that has shown great improvement over the past year. At SS Luke shows an athletic setup with active footwork. He shows a + 1st step and fields the ball low and out front with clean exchanges. His throws are accurate with a short arm action. A long toss program can help improve Luke's arm strength. At the plate Luke sets up in a square stance with low and loose hands. His stride is short and square with controlled rhythm and timing from the right side. He takes a compact swing that makes consistent contact to all fields. On the mound Luke shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and SL. The FB shows with late AS run, the CB is 11-5 with sharp break, and the CH has some sink with FB arm speed. His mechanics start square on the rubber with simple mechanics gathering at the balance point well and separates on time finishing out over the knee. Luke shows the motivation to improve and continues to do so every time he shows up.

11/10/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Fremont (San Jose), CA Luke worked out at SS and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. He showed a spike in radar velocity to 59 MPH and improvements on the mound. Luke has a loose/free arm circle, he separates on time, and keeps his eyes on target. He has a controlled landing toward home, mixes his pitches well, and competes in the zone. At SS, Luke stays low, he makes plays consistently, and funnels well. He has a presentable glove, a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. Offensively, Luke can switch hit and is currently stronger from the right side. He has a level approach, good balance, and a direct/consistent barrel. From the left, Luke uses his hips, he gets solid extension through the ball, and hits hard to the pull side. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

On the bump, Luke showed a clean arm circle, good balance, and solid direction toward home plate. He separates on time, has a controlled landing toward home, and competes in the zone with all of his pitches. At SS, Luke has active feet, he takes good angles to the ball, and fields in a low/square position. He plays through properly and throws with accuracy across the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but will benefit by playing through with his body. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/ turn of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He stays on plane and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 52-55 mph with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a very hard worker.

09/03/2017 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Luke is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Defensively at SS, he takes a prep step with active footwork and works towards the GB in a low position. He fields GB's clean with his backhand and gives accurate DP feeds. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
