12/06/2020 - All-In Membership - San Bernardino, CA Luke is an athletic RHP/SS prospect who continues to make steady improvements on the diamond. On the mound, Luke gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and finishes square to the plate. Luke shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 58-60mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 64-66mph with late arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Luke shows fluid footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half, producing line drives to all fields. With four more years to develop, Luke has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Luke is a 2-way player that has shown great improvement over the past year. At SS Luke shows an athletic setup with active footwork. He shows a + 1st step and fields the ball low and out front with clean exchanges. His throws are accurate with a short arm action. A long toss program can help improve Luke's arm strength. At the plate Luke sets up in a square stance with low and loose hands. His stride is short and square with controlled rhythm and timing from the right side. He takes a compact swing that makes consistent contact to all fields. On the mound Luke shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and SL. The FB shows with late AS run, the CB is 11-5 with sharp break, and the CH has some sink with FB arm speed. His mechanics start square on the rubber with simple mechanics gathering at the balance point well and separates on time finishing out over the knee. Luke shows the motivation to improve and continues to do so every time he shows up.

11/10/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Fremont (San Jose), CA Luke worked out at SS and on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
