12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Maddox continues to impress with his baseball abilities at the Academic All American showcase. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times showed in 2.34 range with accuracy / carry (80 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/30/2023 - National Showcase - Manalapan, NJ Maddox is a 2026 C prospect with an athletic frame at 5'11" 182 pounds. Behind the dish, he shows off efficient feet and range to all sides. He has a quick, clean exchange and good arm action. He does a nice job of tracking the ball with his eyes. His release is quick and he does a good job of creating momentum to his target. He recorded a top pop time of 2.21 seconds. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance and gets a good back load with a squared stride to the pitcher. He shows a lot of intent with his swing and features fast bat speed to the ball with good extension. He has a direct swing path to the ball and squares the ball up consistently. He is a line drive hitter that flashed some pop potential and recorded a max exit velo of 88 MPH. Maddox is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on with 3+ more years of high school baseball ahead of him!

10/12/2022 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic (2026) Maddox is a coachable C/1B prospect who showcased his skills during the Fall Classic. Behind the dish, Maddox sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate to the 2B bag. He creates good angles when blocking and keeps dirt balls in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and his against a strong front side. He works through a smooth swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap. Overall, Maddox is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Maddox continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Preseason All American Rookie event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.30. Throws display accuracy with times continuing to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are firm as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/12/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Manalapan, NJ Maddox showed well offensively and defensively during his last workout with The Factory. He is an athletic catcher with a high ceiling. Behind the plate, Maddox has quick feet, a presentable glove, and he tracks the ball well. He sits in squarely, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and consistency to 2nd base. Continued work on blocking, and gaining more ground to throw will help abilities behind the plate improve. Offensively, Maddox has an athletic stance, good balance, and he a level swing path. He swings with good intent, he has some pop in his bat, and he uses some lower 1/2. Hitting can improve if Maddox can stay short, keeps a more still head, and tap into more lower body.

10/24/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - West Windsor (Trenton), NJ Maddox is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2025. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 3.02 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 5 years to further develop, Maddox has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
