Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

03/28/2021 - All-In Membership - Parker (Denver), CO Maddox is a 2022 1B/RHP. Tall frame, long levers, with physicality to the build and room to develop. Right-handed hitter sets up with an upright and even stance. High leg kick trigger with fluid timing. Gets knob to catcher as he glides into contact. Utilizes his lower half well and makes hard contact. Gap to gap power with an exit velocity of 79mph. Has a tendency to over stride at times which causes him to lose power in swing. Primary 1B with good pre-pitch routine who has smooth actions and clean footwork. Confident actions and fields the ball cleanly out front with soft hands. Stays low on throws and scooped almost everything thrown in his direction. Makes accurate throws with an arm velocity of 79mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch. Long levers and projectible frame. Shows good rhythm to his delivery with balance through release. Uses a compact arm action from an over the top arm slot with a quick hand. Flashed some arm side sink and ability to command the fastball at 73mph. Mixes in a 10/4 breaking ball with tight spin and good depth through strike zone. Showed a developing changeup with FB arm speed but will need to adjust grip and a knuckle CB. Solid 2-way prospect with tremendous upside who continues to improve his skillsets that college coaches desire.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
