Official Scouting Report

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Makenzie continues to show as prospect on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips (92 mph velocity) throws on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. A RHH - he stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power driving (87 mph exit velocity) all parts of the field.

10/29/2017 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Makenzie is a tall, athletic RHP/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.94. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel, displaying gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is outstanding as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Makenzie has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
