02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (MS - East) Malakai made huge strides at the Opening Day Classic. Defensively, a 2025 2B/OF who works to the ball and showcased solid glove technique. Has potential to grow and develop some real arm strength as he matures. Made plays during gameplay and grew his confidence on the diamond. He is a very smart individual who picks up the game quickly. At the plate, sets up well and keeps it simple. Rotates his core to the ball and makes consistent solid contact. Excited to see Malakai's next steps as he works through the PD process.

10/18/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Birmingham, AL Malakai continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

10/27/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Malakai is a young, lean, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and OF. In the INF, Malakai gives good effort to the ball through playable hands and feet. He fields squarely, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency from a long arm action to his target. In the OF, Malakai tracks well, he makes the routine plays, and throws with some accuracy to his cut off man. At the plate, Malakai has a square stance, a short stride, and a level swing. He makes consistent contact, swings a level stick, and works the middle of the field. Overall skills can get better with work on the following.

1. Footwork
2. Hands
3. Release
Outfield

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
