12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Malcolm continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the Academic All- American showcase. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick feet (6.89 60 time) well in covering ground. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with 2 2B.

08/15/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Manchester, CT This 2023 OF is an interesting mix of power (84mph exit velocity off tee) and speed (6.91 60 yard dash). Defensively, the ball jumps out of his hand with backspin towards home plate. Offensively, there is strength in there but we would like to see more load in his pre-pitch to generate separation before launch. With two years of high school remaining, Malcolm has time to get himself in a position to play college baseball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
